This
is another ending type lick similar to the type T-Bone used. It uses the
min 3rd- Maj 3rd thing again, three times in total in just two bars! Notice
that it ends on the note D which is the same as the chord that would be
played at that point (if this were played as the last two bars of a blues).
Key: C
This
is the classic T-Bone style lick that was nicked by everyone. I thought
it was a Chuck Berry lick until I heard T-Bone play it, and he plays it
very often. Chuck Berry added the note C again (8th fret, top E string)
to give it a little thicker sound. Notice that you can play the same bar
over and over and sounds real hip and syncopated.
Key: C
This
lick uses notes from the Mixolydian Mode and the Blues Scale. I think this
is a real nice lick and T-Bone often played licks like this. It uses the
min 3rd- Maj 3rd thing but sounds more jazzy because
of the use of the Blues Scale. The short notes at the beginning are also
similar to what a horn section might play, maybe he was sometimes influenced
by his band?
