My opinions on guitar gear...
I don't know everything about guitars and equipment, but I know what I like and what I think sounds cool - but it is all subjective. Just because I like something, does not mean that you will.
Trust your own judgment, and make sure you check out stuff personally before you buy it, don't take my word, or anyone else's - go to the store and check it out... then buy it online if it's cheaper :) lol
NEW Reviews
So during the coming months I'm planning to do a lot more reviews and I'll be using the same set up and recording techniques all the time so we can consistently judge the sound quality. It's my plan to get high quality audio and a some kind of spreadsheet with amp features to help you in your choices...
GG-600 • Recording set up for reviews.
First out of the blocks is going to be practice amps cos I'm seeing a lot of people being confused about this and that... so I've made a start... in fact I recorded 3 reviews, but on one of them my guitar was out of tune (I'm blaming a bad cold for not noticing, but still...) so that one will get re-recorded shortly... more coming soon!
GG-601 • Practice Amp Shoot Out
GG-602 • Fender Mutang I amplifier review
<< this bit will be ready in a few days... got some other more pressing bits to get dome first!! >>
Justin's Equipment
That sounds VERY suspect ;) but it is not that... these are vids and lessons about the guitars and amps that I use. I promise that you won't see anything untoward ;)
GG-001 • Justin's Guitars
I've updated this page as of Oct 2011 with a list of the guitars I'm using regularly. The old "Justin's guitars" videos were out of date and not good quality either! Maybe I'll get onto doing vids for each guitar, but for now, here they are in a list...
Yes I'm planning an amp list like the one above!
GG-101 • Justin's Mini Maton Acoustic Guitar
In this vid I show you my Mini Maton guitar and play a little bit of a new tune (working title "Roof Tops On Sunny Days" finished title was "Nashville" but it never made it to an album yet!).
GG-102 • Justin's Maton Messiah Acoustic Guitar
In this vid I show you my Maton Messiah, a lovely acoustic. This thing just records like a dream. Plus a play a few bits of other tunes that I have written.
GG-103 • Justin's Maton "Jessie" Acoustic Guitar
This is my little baby and the one guitar I think can't be replaced. It's kinda part of me now... In this I introduce her and play one of my songs called "From Katie's Window".
FINDING MATON GUITARS can sometimes be tricky, but in the UK you can find them at Guitar Village (Surrey) and in the US you can find them at Sutton Strings! Both excellent stores! Or check out distributors list on www.maton.com.au
GG-009 • Justin's Amp Rig 2007
A look at the guitar rack set up that I used touring with Katie Melua in 2007. These days I use old fasioned pedal board and old vintage effects! But this was great for what I needed at the time...

Guitars
GG-501 • REVIEW - GRB Kokocaster
Gordon from GRB donated this guitar for me because he liked the web site. He was not a pushy guy and seemed really cool so I have done a review of his guitar, even though it is not one that I play very much. It is a very cool mid priced instrument!
Justin's Sponsors
I am very lucky to have a good relationship with a few companies that I really dig. In every case I was already a fan of the equipment and then approached them for a deal. I don't use things because they are cheap or they offer an artist deal. I buy stuff cos I like the sound of it. These sponsors help me out heaps, so thanks guys!!
DR Strings - I think they are the best sounding and longest lasting strings.
Maton Acoustic Guitars - The best acoustics that money can buy!
The Gig Rig Pedal Switcher - the heart of my pedal board.
TC Electronic Effects - I use the G-System for my acoustic guitar. I did use it for electric too but now I use the gig rig and a bunch of pedals.
Mesa Boogie Amplifiers - I no longer use Mesa products but they are great amps. Tastes change over time but these amps sound amazing. I am just after more old school sound these days...
