Play your fave tunes...
So this is where you can find out how to play some of your favourite songs!! Some of the easier songs have been simplified for beginners and in the advanced lessons I try and go into as much detail as I can. Lots more are planned but I focus more on songs that will help you develop a certain skill...
THE TABS ARE GONE!! WHY?????
I have been threatened with legal action so I have had to remove the TABs and chord/lyric sheets from the site. Some companies are determined to get the toothpaste back into the tube with a toothpick...
So after consulting a good music specialist lawyer it seems that I have no case for giving away the tabs here. It's a sad day, but all the tabs are gone, you will have to search elsewhere on the internet to find them. I don't imagine it will be too hard anything you want in the world biggest library! I always thought that "fair use" actually meant something and that I could give a small amount of tabs here as an educational tool. But no.
The reason for me being asked to take them down is because of the revenue that a sheet music company would make if people bought the tabs. We all know that if people don't get the tab here they will find it elsewhere. I very much doubt the people would have actively sought to buy tabs, you would have just got them someplace else. But I am now going to try and get permission from publishers to get some up here for free and get some others that you might have to buy to feed the publishing companies.
If there is a positive aspect to all this it is that:
THE BEST WAY TO LEARN IS BY TRANSCRIBING SONGS YOURSELF - NOT USING TAB!!!
And that is the truth! So actually better than using tabs is to work out songs yourself and make your own charts! It is nowhere as hard as you might think if you have never tried it - it is the way that generations of guitar players before you learnt to play!! I would urge you to go check out the transcribing lessons and learn how to make your own lyric and chord charts and how to write out tab.
When you transcribe you develop your ear and will enable you to play many songs just by listening to them! No need for tab at all - it's amazing and that is what "real" musicians do. In the old days nobody had tab - you think Jimi and Clapton got tabs off web site???
The video lessons are still there but I would suggest that you use the SONG TIPS pages to help you learn songs by ear and make your own charts! I'm going to get developing this area now as a priority.
