Was so grateful for this lesson when soon after getting my guitar (an Ibanez SGT130E) I snapped the top E and having never restrung an acoustic before was a wee bit nervy.

However watched the vid a few times - invested in the string winder Planet Waves thingy - and managed to change it OK. So cheers J!

One thing, are you a change them all at the same time or one at a time man?

Cheers!

The reason I asked was that I read that sometimes the neck bends if the strings are all removed at the same time.

Thanks for the reply though....

I changed all strings of my guitar, for the first time.
But a couple of pins pop up when I tighten the peg,
and I can't push them down.
They just pop up a little and the 6th string pin is a little serious.
The 6th looks like the whole pin will pop up at any time... it looks like when I tighten the peg the pin can't hold the end of the string steady... and the ball at the end of the string push up the pin...
Was I doing something wrong and can I fix it??..
Thanks so much for any reply.

Hi all, I'm about to change my acoustic guitar strings this weekend some time and I want to know if I can take all the strings of one at a time?

My guitar tech showed me once on my eletric but the 440 hz sound it hurts my ears very badly. Any suggestions?

Did you try bending the string at the end like J said before yo put it in the hole because that causes a kind of wedge to stop the pn coming out

thanks first, yes I did bend the string at the end...
I bent it almost 90 degrees and the wedge was pulled out too...
My friend took a look of my guitar and he said it was a little bit bow...
(due to humidity, I didn't take good care of it...it was a really old guitar...)
Is it true and is it really matter??
Thanks again.

Hi.Does Anyone know how to string an old style acoustic properly?.By old style I mean the old cylindrical headstock with three cylinders either side.My guitar is old but it sounds nice and i don't want to give it up! Any info would be much appreciated - thanks.

Cheers for the reply XV.It is a fender steel string acoustic.I have looked all over the web for instructions. There only seems to be instructions for the new style headstock with pins and tuning pegs.Oh well Cheers anyway.I guess I will struggle on.

Yeah cheers again XZV.Just checked youtube for instructions on stringing nylon acoustic and it had the same headstock.I'm fairly new to guitar and I was given the guitar i have. When i got it - it had steel strings on so I always assumed it was a steel string acoustic. It has a sticker on it that says "steel reinforced neck".So does having that headstock mean it is a Nylon string instrument?

Thanks to this lesson and the accompanying videos, I changed my first string in about five minutes or less, NO hassle!

Thanks, man...

hi all...i've changed all my strings in my acoustic guitar and it hasn't been the first time but it has been a while...and i don't remember if it happened in the past but for now i have this issue...my E, A, and D string (4th 5th and 6th string) are making a weird sound when y play them...like a buzz or a warbling like sound...is this because i just changed them or theres another reason???

i already checked the guitar neck and it is still the same and none of the strings are touching the frets so whats going on??

thanks in advance

I have the same problem, I think it's because strings are too close to neck. How do I "lift" them up?
