Hello Justin.I hope you are alright.

I have a confusion over Tied Strumming Pattern.

Can the 4th example of the Tied Strumming Pattern (http://www.justinguitar.com/en/BC-008-TiedStrummingPatterns.php) be written like this: DU/U/UD (/ means a little pause)?

For LearningGuitar - Yes, it could be written like that, whatever is easiest for you so that you can understand will work.

For Tomps - Good strumming comes with time. Practicing the patterns with your chords, trying different patterns to songs, and just practicing a whole lot will develope your strumming. Focus on getting into a continuous rhythm and keep that right arm moving. The more you play the better you get.

OK, so here's my problem.  Strumming patterns 3 and 4.  Missing the down strums is killing me.  Whenever I count out a beat, I automatically do a downstrum!  If i try not to say the beat number in my head to miss the strum, my count gets all messed up.  Is there anyone else out there who has encountered this aggravating problem?  And if so, what did you do to get through it?  I know i saw Justin in one of his videos count the beat numbers of the missing strums more softly than the others, but when i tried it, I still downstrummed!  Help! This problem has my guitar gathering dust in the corner! Cry
