I did say this on youtube, but I think when you first play through the solo it would be nice to hear either a backing track, or at least the chords played under the solo, it really changes the overall feel imo and would help the learner to see how it fits into the song I think.

great video again tho , I have not learned this one yet, and maybe I should try and transcribe it.  but you do such a great job I might cheat and use your video Wink

thanks again for all your time and these great lessons.

Hi Justin,

Thank you for the video and tab - I've been playing the 1st solo a little differently and you've shown me a much easier way for certain sections that always give me a bit of gyp! (eg the final bends after the vox kicks in ....)

Question I have is about your tone ..

it is through your mesa 5:25? what tone settings please? (I also have that amp and I love it ...)

are you using echo or quite a lot of reverb? or both?

any other fx or pedals you are using?

thanks again, Justin

@DC -  I can't play to the track without risking breach of copyright and didn't have time to make a backing track.... but I think I will buy a looper pedal so I can do that in future... I do live in a recording studio so I should have made a track.

@ Origami - try watching all the vids before you ask dude!

I watched the vids all the way through, and I had a difficult time seeing what settings you were using for the delay pedal.  The other pedals were easier to see.  If anyone could throw a hint or two my way on that one, it would be great.

Just a small tip when playing the rhythm part of this song. When you change from the A chord to the C chord throw in 1 strum on a G/B chord(i think that's what it's called). For the G/B have your 1st finger on the 2nd fret of the A string(B note) and another finger (I use my pinkie) on the 3rd fret of the thinnest E string(G note).I think this is in the song (not sure tho!) but it does sound nice.Hope that helps somebody.

Just wanted to say thanks Justin for this one. One of my all time favorites!

I have been playing the chords and the first solo and it never sounded quite right. Your video helped me get it right

Thanks again!

Thank you Justin, i had requested this one, a year ago! Its worth the wait!

Someone please please tell me how to get the best effects for this solo. I have VOX AD15VT, other than the delay i have no idea what amp model to use, gain, treble, etc. Any tips would be very much appreciated. I am trying different things just haven't found the sweet spot yet:(

Thanks everyone. but...

I might be pulling this one and re-making it. It's not meeting the justin quality control standards. First time I have had emails saying that it's not what they expect from me (in a nice way) and it's probably gonna get a lotts views.

It needs a backing track. It's needs the whammy bar. The timing is out and it's just a bit sloppy. Needs a re-make.

It is the new JB strat, @bickb - the SG is not mine, I just borrowed it from my mate downstairs.

Cheers all. J

Hey liquidblues, have you tried the presets from Valvetronix.net? It's a good starting point.
Here's a link to the Pink Floyd presets.

I have finally found my pink floyd spot on my VT.
I use the AC30TB with plenty of gain, delay and most importantly - Overdrive pedal.
This sound seems to fit any floyd solo for me, I just adjust the gain accordingly.
