I had so much fun on European Teaching Tour I'm going to try and do trips like this all the time. It usually takes 10 or more expressions of interest for me to book a location in, then will start selling the spaces.

Places I'm considering if enough people exress interest!

Places I'd really like to go to, but I need usually at least 10 people to want a lesson before I can make the logistics work. So please email me if you are interested a city - you don't have to book right away, once there is enough interest, then I will book a date and work out an exact location, then you book and pay!

Private Lessons

Private one on one lessons are bookable in advance only. I can check your technique and suggest remedies for bad habits, work out a solid practice routine, help with motivation, or just have an individual Q & A session.

TIMES: Depends on how many students I get. Usually I start in the afternoon then I break for dinner, then have a few in the evening.

COST: £75 GBP / €80 EUR / $100 USD for 50 minutes.

Why 50 minutes? - cos it takes time to get guitars out, say hello and all that. So i think it's fairer to say the lessons are 50 minutes long than say an hour and actually only get 50 mins anyway, which is what generally happens with most 'hour lessons'.

Why so expensive? From overseas trips I don't usually make any money after hotel, flights, food, tax and all that, just get the pleasure of meeting my online students in the real world. I hope just to not lose too much! In the UK I pay vat and tax, I make a bit but more goes to the government than goes in my pocket!

INSTRUMENTS: Lessons will be un amplified electric guitar only. Please don't bring an acoustic - they are too loud and make hotels get cross at me (This does not apply to London lessons, cos they will be at my studio and we can be as loud as we like!). You will need to bring your own instrument.

Bringing a recording device is a great idea, a dictaphone or similar. Please just tell me that you are recording, and understand that it is your own private use only, I will own the rights to the recording (just so you can't start selling it!).

BOOKING: See below - I'll email you back with a time slot. If it's good, then I will email you again when the venue is finalised and you will be expected to pay by paypal to confirm your booking. It does take time for me to get this organised. Please be patient.

CANCELATION: Once booked you will not be able to cancel your lesson. It's hard enough to organise this thing, so I just can't face the logistics, so once you book and pay, that's it. I'm not unfair - just busy!

If I don't teach you and it's my fault (car breaks down or something) then of course I would refund you, but otherwise, please make sure before you book. If there is some reason I have to change the schedule I will of course offer you the option of a refund.

PREPARATIONS: Once we are all confirmed I will send you a sheet with some questions for you to fill out that will help us have the best lesson possible, get you thinking about your goals and how we can help you get there!

Quotes from happy students...

"It was a terrific lesson. To start with, Justin had me play the best piece I knew. He quickly identified errors in my playing, timing and even the way I was holding the guitar. He broke down a very comprehensive practice routine, that I still follow to this day. We then spent a little time on transcribing. I am a better player today because of that solo lesson. Believe me I would loved to have had weekly lessons with Justin but what can you do. Justin is very patient, explains everything clearly, and makes sure you have it down. I would highly recommend a lesson, even a one time lesson, with Justin." Walt, NYC, 2008

"I was one of the few people from the New York area who were fortunate enough to have had a lesson with him. I had a 2 hour lesson yesterday afternoon with Justin and I really learned a lot in that short time. I have notes and I tape recorded the lesson so I can keep coming back to it. We developed a practice routine. He corrected my technique and answered any questions I had. We worked on reading rhythms, deciphering time signatures, aural training/transcribing tips, blues soloing, and some soloing with the major scale. I did some improvising while he played some chords in G and it sounded crappy and scaley. He then made some suggestions and had me play again and then asked me questions what did I do differently the second time than the first... making me analyze and think about my own playing, quite interesting. He even showed me how he plays his song, "From Katie's Window" cause I could never really figure out what he was doing just from listening. Great teacher, funny and entertaining too!

I highly recommend taking a lesson with him if he is in your area. Cancel any plans you might have, skip work, whatever you need to do. It's worth it! I wish I could stay there all day and just pick his brain with guitar questions. " Joe, NCY, 2008

Forum

If you have questions then the forum is the best place to ask...

Or maybe you wanna meet up with some other players in your area that might be there too...

Here is the thread for the tour.

Pictures

I may ask for us to take a picture together while I am there too, because I would like to build up a collection of pictures with all my students around the world and may use them on the web site too. I will ask of course before, and if you want a copy of course you'll be welcome! If I forget please remind me, cos sometimes I just completely forget! (you can see some pictures on my facebook page!)
