Welcome to - over 1000 completely free guitar lessons!
The best guitar lessons available on the internet - and they're free :)
Nothing to pay, nothing to lose - so take a look around and see why over 35,000 people a day learn guitar here!

There are hundreds of free guitar lessons here and it's taken a lot of work over nearly 15 years for me to create it all. It's important to me to help everyone that wants to learn to play the guitar, not just those with money for tuition, so I run it on an "honour system" and I rely on the honesty of users like your good self to make a donation if they can afford to.

Donations allow me to keep it free, so if you like what I'm doing then please support the site, don't leave it for "everyone else". This site is pretty much my full time gig these days, not a hobby, I want to continue making it THE best place to learn guitar, but I need your support!

Wishing you love, peace and happiness (and a fun guitar journey!), Justin

sample1 Mark Knopfler on! Mark Knopfler ( "If you told me you wanted to get going on guitar I'd recommend Justin Sandercoe."
sample1 Brian May on! Brian May ( on his blog, Brian May's Soapbox. "On a day when there's a temptation to go into a dark place, and only see all the bad stuff there is in the world ... greed, cruelty, exploitation, selfishness ... I get days like that pretty often .... it's great to find someone giving out, and giving out good, and operating on an honour basis ... There are so many people who can't afford Guitar lessons .... well, here's a wonderful guy who has set up a whole system of teaching guitar ... Blues, Jazz, Rock, even Songwriting, from the basics, tuning the guitar, etc ... upwards ... If you use his site, it's up to you to determine how much you can contribute ... but this is an amazing site .... he is also very aware of issues in the world which need attention ... a great channel .. Check him out. He's a giver."
sample1 Dr Martin Taylor MBE Dr Martin Taylor MBE ( "Justin is one of the most impressive guitar teachers on the planet. Whether he's teaching a complete beginner, or helping a more advanced player reach the next level, he knows exactly how to communicate the knowledge he has to share."

Martin has an excellent tuition site too! Click here to check it out.
sample1 Steve Vai on! Steve Vai ( "I have checked out Justin's site and found it to be comprehensive and informative. I have always felt that learning about music and especially music theory applied to the guitar, is helpful in finding your own unique voice on the instrument and expanding your creative horizons. Along with his insight into teaching and his fantastic abilities on the instrument, Justin has created a powerful go-to-place for anyone interested in exploring the instrument to their potential. Just don't hurt yourself."
sample1 Richard Bennett on! Richard Bennett ( "There's an abundance of guitar information out there on the web, some good, some not. I stumbled across Justin Sandercoe's site a year ago and now tell everyone about it. The lessons are conveyed so clearly, concisely and in the most congenial way. The site is laid out logically as well so you can to go straight to your area of interest... beginner, blues, rock, folk, jazz, rhythm, fingerpicking... it's all there and more. Spend ten minutes with Justin and you'll not only play better but feel better too. From novice to know-it-all, everyone will learn something from Sandercoe."
sample1 Les Wise on! Les Wise ( "After teaching guitar and music theory to thousands of students over past three decades, I thought that I had basically 'seen it all' when it comes to guitar instruction. Then I discovered Justin’s website, and man was I impressed! Justin’s caring spirit, attention to detail, vast knowledge base, and especially his lucid, laidback and nurturing style, allow students to fall in love with the learning process. You see, it’s not enough to simply find out how to play a few cool licks or chords. A truly great teacher will make you fall in love with the process of discovery so that you can unlock the best within you. Justin is one of these great teachers, and I highly recommend to anyone who wants to tap into their best selves. "
sample1 Jim Campilongo on! Jim Campilongo ( "Justin is an instructor with that rare combination that encompasses great playing in conjunction with a thoughtful, likable personality. Justin's instruction is extremely intelligent because he's smart enough to know the 'basics' don't have to be served 'raw' - Justin keenly serves the information covered in chocolate. Justin's site is like a free pass in a candy store!"
sample1 Pierre Bensusan on! Pierre Bensuan ( "Lucky you, guitar players from all over the world, to take advantage of the tutorials presented in Justin's comprehensive website! Whatever the style you fancy, Justin is there for you with generous and precise guidance to help you enhance your playing and by doing so, introduce you to so many ways of approaching the guitar and discover new artists along the way. I wish there would have been such a medium and decitated host around when I started to learn how to play. Bravo Justin, and my gratitude for bringing music to the heart and ears of many!"

sample1 Steve Wozniak on! Steve Wozniak ( "I have heard how giving you are in so many respects of music schooling and I must say that I am impressed.

You remind me of the pure idealism that we had in starting Apple.

If I were young, with time, I'd likely offer to join and help you in your endeavors.

Keep making people happy, not just in their own learning, but in the example you set for them. "
sample1 Mike Dawes on! Mike Dawes ( "There is no better all round guitar tuition resource out there. Justin's transcriptions are the new standard for accuracy."

Latest News - November 2017

Still struggling to keep all my plates spinning but got a load of thing finished off this last month and some exciting projects launched and more getting closer!

The massive update to my Time Trainer Metronome is out, and as well as a cosmetic update, we've improved almost every aspect of the app and added a whole new song and setlist feature so you can now store you settings for specific songs or practice routines and get them back easily. A feature I wanted myself for some time and I know many of you did too (the android version will also be getting an update in the near future but still trying to work out the best way to do it!). We're working on an updated Tap Tempo feature for it, the old one was not really great) and will hopefully be ready for the next update. The One Minute Changes also got a refresh and the Ear Trainer too! All the apps are getting updated for iOS11, the awesome team at LeafCutter are on it and working hard as they can! Reviews and rating are really helpful if you dig the updates please take the time to do it, and if you're unhappy with the app - please get in touch and give us a chance to fix it!

My new Ear Training Exercises audio tracks are live on iTunes and Amazon (downloads, not streaming!) - easiest to just search for JustinGuitar, the links seem country specific and make it harder than just a simple search. Each of the 3 volumes has 10 tracks of various instruments to test your interval Ear Training :) I used to make things like this to test myself on a train - you hear the interval 3 times and then I say the answer for you, so no messing about writing things down etc. If you doing the (free!) Ear Training course then they are sure be of benefit and help show your support!

I've also just released the new Jam Modes Backing Track collection (also on iTunes and Amazon) which was LOADS of fun to make, my great mate Dave Marks and I book a bunch of great session player friends and we jam! We edit up the best bits and this collection will be incredible for people learning about modes (the modes course on my site is next big module to tackle when the new site change is done! We also re-branded all the Jam Series and they'll all be back for sale shortly!

We've alos added LOADS of awesome New Tee Shirts in the official store! We have a lot of fun with these and I wear them myself for most of the new videos. If you want guitar tee shirts then we got em! :) I've been working mostly on thenew web site which is going well but there is LOADS to do and while it's going to be awesome it's a ton of work. It's also very expensive to hire in great developers so if you been thinking about donating a while and not quite found the time, then now would be a great time to help out! I'm moving from a hand coded site (this one) to an automated CMS where you'll be able to log in and get access (still free!) to a heap of new incredible featires which I'll talk about when it's going live - but it's ausch a big step up for the site, seriously gonna rock it!

OK, I've gotta get todays new video launched (Handle With Care) and the remaining Jam albums uploaded, then write the newsletter, write all the new Ear Training series web pages, transcribe the next batch of songs to do lessons on and work on the new site with the developers. Gonna be a busy one! :) Laters potata's!

Wishing you lots of love and laughter :) J.

Endorsements and stuff I dig..

I'm real fussy about stuff I endorse, I will NEVER ever say to y'all that I play something if I'm not using it and honestly dig it. I do not get paid to use anything, but I do get discounted or free stuff sometimes. I don't have any exclusive deals and often use things not listed below, I'm a bit of gear slut and not particularly faithful ;) Check them out, all seriously great tools for making happy sounds in your ears!
