Welcome, Intermediate guitarist!

I’m happy to have you here! In this Grade 4, we’ll learn all about guitar chords. If you’ve been following my Theory method, everything we’ve learned so far will come together in this Green stage. If you’re new to JustinGuitar, make sure you’ve got all the Music Theory fundamentals down.

🚨 Learning music theory is all about making music! Don’t move forward if you don’t know how to apply the knowledge you’ve got so far. C’mon - my beginner theory lessons are fun as well! Spend some more and make sure you know how the Major Scale works. That's a big deal!

The Intermediate Stage is the start of all the cool stuff. It’s when you’ll learn to improvise! Improvising on the guitar can be intimidating, but we’ll keep taking it slowly and breaking it all down.

The biggest deal in the following lessons is understanding the relationship between chords and scales and how they come together in keys. This is so cool once it clicks! You’ll suddenly be able to improvise in circumstances that you used to find difficult (if not impossible!) before. It’s magical!

We’ll also make sure you know how to find the name of every note on the fretboard. That might look very difficult, but you’ll learn some very cool tricks soon. ;)

We have a lot to cover, so I divided Grade 4 into three modules. We’ll start by learning all about Chord Theory & Triads in Module 1. Then, we’ll move on to Module 2, where we’ll (really) understand what Chords in a Key mean. In Module 3, you’ll meet the Circle of 5th and the best tricks to explore your guitar freely.

By the end of this Green grade, things will get spicier! You’ll find yourself much more comfortable playing all over the fretboard (or at least understanding how that is even possible!) But to get there, you already know:
