The BOSS Waza-Air headphone amp is way cooler than I expected!

I didn't get it when BOSS first offered me a pair of their WAZA-AIR Wireless Personal Guitar Amplification System to try. I already had great amplifiers and incredible headphones, so why did I need an amplifier in my headphones? But after giving some of them as a gift to my workshop students and seeing how they were fans of it, I decided to check them out. And I'm really impressed!

Waza-Air: Product Review

One of the coolest things about Waza-Air is the convenience factor. They're wireless, so you only need to plug the transmitter into your guitar and put on the headphones. No more dealing with cables and amplifiers! Waza-Air is also great for travel - they're so compact. But convenience isn't the only feature that impressed me!

Waza-Air also comes with a gyro sensor and moving 3D space to deliver natural "amp-in-room," way cooler than I expected. It helps with the fatigue of using regular headphones. This effect is also cool for playing with a backing track: it feels like you're playing on stage with a band!

🦶BOSS also sent me their Wireless Footswitch, which can control the headphones hands-free. You can change patches using the little buttons on the side, but you must stop playing. The footswitch is cool if you're jamming with a backing track and want to move from a clean to a dirty sound. You can also add additional effects and stuff, toggle on an extra gain or a delay using the foot switch, so it's a really cool little addition.

The build quality of Waza-Air is definitely pro. They feel well-made and sturdy, and the removable headphone pad is a useful feature for cleaning. You can use them as regular Bluetooth headphones as well!

👎 Of course, there are some cons to consider. The built-in tuner could be more accurate. I also found the initial setup a bit fiddly and was disappointed they didn't use a USB-C connection. Also, remember you cannot substitute an amplifier for these headphones to play a gig, for example!

However, I'm impressed with the BOSS Waza-Air headphone amp. They're great for practicing at home or while traveling, and the gyro sensor is super cool. They might be slightly expensive, but the convenience and quality make them worth considering if you're in the market for a headphone amp!
