Small Town Sci-Fi, aka Jonathan Suarez

I got an email from a student who had just released his first record, and I think he sounds awesome! Jonathan has made a record with cool Indie vibes. It has a little of Elliott Smith and maybe The Shins. :) There's lots of space and ethereal dreaminess, and he has a hip vocal delivery that hits home.

He's been a JustinGuitar student since he started learning guitar three or four years ago. He had a rough year and needed something to help him express himself. Then playing guitar got serious for him a little under six months ago.

Jonathan told me in his first email:

❝ Before, I was mostly lots memorizing chord shapes and practicing strumming patterns. But your course material enabled me to advance pretty quickly!

Recently, Jonathan recorded his first studio record, an EP called Psycho. I enjoyed listening to it – it has four cool tracks and an Elliott Smith vibe that grabs my attention. He told me that he tried learning to play from books before learning with JustinGuitar, but that didn't go well…

❝ I tried learning with books long ago, and it went nowhere. I'm not sure what I'd have done without your lessons. I recommend you to everyone that asks and some who don't!

Jonathan, I'm glad you've found JustinGuitar. I dig your music and the engagement you've shown by recording an EP and expressing yourself through music. That's always a big deal, and you sound great. Good luck with your musical journey!
